Management Tips: Recruit Top Candidates

When recruiting for a receptionist, place a newspaper ad in the medical section and cross reference it under the general section. Title the position "Admin. Assistant". You will get a better pool of candidates by giving this position the title it deserves. Many people see a receptionist as an employee who just answers phones and transfers calls. However, a receptionist in a veterinary practice needs to have good organizational skills, clerical skills and communication skills. By giving this position another title, you will get higher caliber candidates to interview and hire for one of the most important positions in your practice.
