Tracy Dowdy is the Founder and Managing Director of Management Resource Group Consulting in Dallas, Texas. Tracy has more than 15 years experience dedicated specifically to working with and serving veterinarians, their teams, and business partners in every area of veterinary practice management. Tracy is recognized nationally and is frequently invited to speak at events and seminars across the country.
Tracy gained experience in the personnel industry working with Fortune 500 companies before entering the veterinary field. Since Tracy’s father is a veterinarian, she has had years of opportunities to gain knowledge about the profession throughout her life. In 1995, Tracy joined Advanced Animal Care Centre located in Bedford, Texas. Within three years of leading the practice in a new, client and service oriented direction, the practice tripled in gross revenues and received a Hospital Design Merit Award (June 1998) and the Practice of Excellence Award (June 2000) from Veterinary Healthcare Communications, the publishers of Veterinary Economics magazine.
In March of 1998, Tracy started her own consulting business to help veterinarians and practice owners achieve the same success she was able to provide to Advanced Animal Care Centre. Tracy has consulted with over 200 practices nationwide in the areas of client service, staff retention, financial growth, and many other aspects of practice management.
Tracy has built on her management and training experiences to create her hands-on approach. She works alongside the leaders and teams as they grow through the process of change and implementation with issues of developing a practice that is client centered, setting and training to standards of service, empowering the healthcare team, building effective and efficient workflow systems, improving communications, conduct, and appearances, creating a positive culture with teams, and ultimately moving the entire practice to higher levels of personal and collective enjoyment.
Tracy has been published in local and national veterinary journals as well as contributing author of Management Basics for Veterinarians. Tracy has spoken at local, regional and national veterinary meetings such as AAHA, NAVC, AVMA on topics such as leadership, client service and staff training. Tracy is a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager and a charter member of VetPartners formally known as the Association of Veterinary Practice Management Consultants and Advisors.
